I’ve been working here for about 4 years. I stay because I know everyone and know my job well but nursing is getting harder and harder. We continue to be short staffed, patients are demanding and all management care about is customer service surveys. News flash if we don’t have adequate staffing we will continue to see patient satisfaction decrease and nurse burnout and nurse turnover increase. These problems are not just at this system, it’s across the country

Nurse to patient ration 1:6 in med surg is diabolical High medical premiums Some hospitals are getting rid of telemetry rooms so nurses have to monitor their patients cardiac telemetry.

Cons

There's been a decrease in earnability through phase out of pick up bonuses without an increase in hourly compensation. They do not keep current employee pay at industry level. For example new nurses who have just passed NCLEX are currently hired in at a rate very close to what their current 5 year veteran nurses are making. In order to get better compensation you have to go elsewhere.
