Pros

-Bose has been engineering focused from the beginning, and this still continues today through its hiring and development programs. There is usually money available for improvement projects if someone has a great idea to make things better. -The benefits are very decent, and while pay may sometimes be close to average for the area, it is usually fair for new employees coming in. -The employee discount program is appreciated. -There are also a lot of opportunities throughout the company, though I am unsure how many of them are filled with internal candidates.

Cons

-The company used to be much smaller, and with each expansion, it loses a little bit of what made it such a special place to work. Working here is almost like joining a cult. It is passed around like common knowledge that working at Bose is such an amazing thing, so people just assume and accept that this is the case. When compared to other companies, this is likely still true, but this mindset cannot blind management to any developing problems. -Given that it's a private company, it must mark up the cost of its products to make up for the lack of shareholders. For most products, Bose actually cares about making a quality product for customers. But there are some "brand recognition" games that get played with commodity products that are not as good. The mindset that goes along with this strategy can make Bose seem like an entitled company that feels it is doing something amazing for people by giving them speakers that sound decent. Perspective is important when there are so many world problems to be solved. -Management sometimes expects respect but does not show it to employees.

Pros

Work-life balance... as long as you know your career is a dead end @ Bose. If you want to just occupy a cube like a lemming, have at it.

Cons

Culture of fear, backstabbing & favoritism. Upper management are tyrants while middle management has rid themselves of everyone except the bullies & those "kept in line" for fear of losing their jobs. RIP Dr. Bose.

Pros

The product is high quality. Pay was competitive for the area. The job comes with decent perks.

Cons

The company went downhill after Dr. Bose passed. Many of the management team are completely out of touch with the workers. Management is focused on their own advancement, and they will betray their workers to make themselves look good. Promotions were based on who you know, not what you do. The pay used to be competitive, but it didn't adjust to compensate for new competitors.
