Pros

Helping individual get in supportive housing.

Cons

Over worked, short staffing because of work load and pay. Do not give reasonable raise. Only 3% raises for staff after yearly evaluations. Evaluations done by bias supervisors that do not care about staff they manage. Very unsafe work environments. Fecal matter on floors, sharp needles picking out from clients rooms at safe havens, unsanitary work conditions. Also it’s a 35 hour work week and still work through break due to workload.

Pros

The mission of Breaking Ground is admirable.

Cons

Are you looking for a new job? Please, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I am sure you current job sucks. Working in any client facing position at Breaking Ground will put you in grave danger. The company has recently expanded and hired a new HR team which does not care about the workers. There is a lot of lip service paid to safety precautions but, at the end of the day, staff are getting attacked by clients with no resource, managers who are accused of harassment are not getting terminated, and workplace moral is non-existent. There is no context in which I would recommend any client facing role here. Please, run.

Pros

It was a good experience to learn about what people who don’t have homes go through on the day to day and how we can help them. Although I did not work with the unhoused directly, I was able to work with their case managers, and learn each client’s story, and help them achieve a more stable place to live. It really is rewarding knowing that I am helping to make a difference in someone’s life.

Cons

Fully in office although my job function did not require me to be.
