great mission - management issues across the board.

Pros

Mission driven. Many dedicated employees that believe they are making a difference. Good work / life balance at the corporate headquarters in NYC.

Cons

there have been 4 (?) CEOs over the the last 10 years and it's taken its toll. It is too top heavy in nyc: Too many VPs and it's politically difficult to navigate and progress - the "team" attitude is missing. It's hard to get promoted if you are internal. Better off leaving and coming back if you want to move up and get more money. New staff are paid much much more than than tenured staff. They also do not invest in current staff - professional development training is impossible to get if you are not a fundraiser.

Pros

If you can work from home and not in the New York City National office, are chummy with key volunteers, and a total suck up with back stabbing potential - this is the job environment for you!

Cons

Nasty senior management with inflated egos. Created a fearful atmosphere and stripped staff of confidence. Provided zero direction, mentorship and ownership of teams. No room for growth. Constant turnover (55+ colleagues during my time there). Every day you must course correct and know every man is out for himself on JDRF sinking ship. Low staff morale with bosses who are not on your side. Political, elitist, and dirty game playing.
