      Organization with a lot exciting initiatives and great staff

      Passionate volunteers that make you feel you are part of a family Talented, determined staff with a lot of creativity New exciting partnerships happening Culture open to change and trying new things A cause that you want to fight for - easy to get out of bed each day and want to raise funds for

      Cons

      Organization is trying to move a lot of new things at the same time. If you are less open to change, this could be hard.

      Please note JDRF Canada is a separate entity from JDRF International. Our organizations are valued partners in the worldwide effort to turn Type 1 into Type None. Each international affiliate has its own structure and its own CEO.

      A cesspool of infighting and incompetence

      Pros

      Smart, dedicated staff working hard to find ways to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes. Compensation and benefits are quite good for the industry, with excellent (but expensive) health insurance and generous PTO. The Research and Events groups do excellent work.

      Cons

      The atmosphere at the NYC national office is as toxic a work environment as any I've ever seen. The Marketing and Communications group is a disorganized mess characterized by a "mean girls" ethos, political infighting, lack of direction and failure of leadership. Competent managers could turn it around, but they've chased all the decent ones away. Managerial churn just confuses everybody.
