Pros

Very flexible scheduling, good pay while in college,

Cons

Teachers treated subs like an extra body, some center directors had a nasty attitude. One moment in particular bothered me, I had injured my ankle was completely unable to move without crutches, that limited my abilities so I called out. The director asked if I could still come that they only needed me to change diapers and move babies. I told her again that I could not put pressure on my foot and that I wouldn't be able to pick a baby up, that I didn't even think I could navigate the metro safely and she had an attitude and hung up the phone. Another center I was placed in while still on crutches placed me with the 2 year olds instead of the older kids and again had an attitude because I could not pick the kids up. The environment was extremely uncomfortable and the last day I was there the director told me she never wanted me to come back to their center. I've worked at other daycare agencies and I never had issues with those agencies before. It was honestly a horrible experience as a 19 year old

Unhappy Staff

Pros

Helping children learn and watching them grow.

Cons

Staff is really unhappy!!!! Management doesnt seem to understand policies, licensing requirement and curriculum. Never have answers to staff questions. Some management have huge attitudes. Clearly, doesn't like working in classroom. Also, gossips about others! Not professional! Policies seem to change daily to benefit admin's workload. We are told to give list of materials we need, but then are told there is no money to buy anything. Center is very short staff. People are leaving because of all these problems. Teachers work long hours but, admin doesn't seem to put in the long hours with us. Upper management comes monthly to visit and closes the door ALL the time. Has their nose in the air and clearly doesn't seem to like us either. Comes off as snobby. Other people from centers come and clean/rearrange classrooms w/o input from teachers actually working in the classroom. They also say they don't like coming to help. Admin keeps the door close too and puts phone on do not disturb often. I use to LOVE my job. I wanted to grow with the company. And even with the poor pay rate, I USE to feel appreciate for all the work I did. But, since September 2018 things have just went completely down hill. I left because it was so stressful and I didn't feel appreciated.
