Unless an outside agency (i.e. Office of Recipient Rights) gets involved. -Employees haven't received raises in over five years; some recently received an insulting $60 check bearing the message, "Thanks for all you do." -Direct care staff are expected to accept the same near-minimum wage regardless of how much extra work is expected of them; homes with total care clients (those that are dependent on staff for all activities of daily living) are paid the same as those with as few as one or two clients who require the most minimal of assistance (such as cleaning) -Refusal to offer benefits to same-sex spouses (specifically targets "spouses under federal, not state law" in benefits materials)
