      Pros

      -Lots of women in upper management -Ethical product

      Cons

      -Low pay and unwilling to negotiate "outside of review cycles" -Extreme lack of communication from upper management leading a lot of major decisions to feel shady -Extremely inflexible -My manger was pulled in so many directions that we never had an uninterrupted 1:1 -Any time I needed to contact HR I felt unsupported by them and like they were very defensive. When I emailed them, they CC'd my manager in their responses, which made me feel like I could not air any issues to any part of BE -My co-workers and I were made to feel unsafe by BE's COVID policies and communication during every phase of the pandemic -Terrible PTO policies lead to no work-life balance. Many co-workers felt like they could not use their PTO because both the preparations to take time off as well as returning and catching up with work would be too stressful -Difficult to move up, I saw co-workers who were extremely dedicated become static as outside hires were brought into management roles -Seemingly no plans before huge moves were made, causing issues in the transition and next phases -The desire for rapid expansion is so extreme that no one is willing to stop and fix structural issues -Lowest workplace morale I have ever experienced -High turnover (I saw 20 people leave our office in 2 years; once having 3 people quit in one week) -False reviews are left by HR and upper management (on all platforms, including posing as customers) to attempt to boost reviews -After a while, you just get tired of coming to work and realizing that everyone you interact with is constantly stressed

      We pride ourselves on providing growth and promoting from within. As of Q3 2021, 74% of employees who had been with the company one year or longer had been promoted. We have also updated our PTO policy and expanded our benefit offerings in 2022 in response to employee feedback. We have consistently surveyed employees throughout COVID and kept employee, customer and community safety top of mind in our decisions. We are always looking for additional opportunities for improvement in the employee experience and in our business processes. We appreciate your feedback.

      Pros

      - I love the fact that Brillant Earth is forever changing - BE went Public during my time there - Co workers eager to learn/improve - My two most recent managers were dedicated to making a positive change.

      Cons

      - No work/life balance for managers - Micro managed (constantly pinged) - My manager(s) were rarely present during meetings and 1:1s, because their managers were constantly pinging them as well. - Upper management sets the stage for a toxic work environment - CCS/Super Res team are over worked without a plan in place to stop the bleeding - Lack of appreciation and empathy from Upper management - TOOO MANY COOKS IN THE KITHEN - Encouraged to post positive Yelp/Google reviews on behalf of BE to increase review site ratings. - Everyone including upper management is terrified of the CEO. (This is the type of environment she created) - PTO blackout period (this needs to go) - BE can’t keep their staff for all the reasons above. (A big turnover rate).

      Pros

      Because sadly, everyone gets desperate sometimes and needs money to survive. The people you work with are wonderful, but Stockholm syndrome tends to bond a group, so that's unsurprising. You may get an occasional snack, or maybe an awkward cocktail hour where everyone looks at each other, terrified, but grateful for their one beer.

      Cons

      There's a 5 word minimum? This place is just bad for a person's soul. Constant chaos and anxiety abounds, and guaranteed, you'll wake up in a panic at 2am most mornings about something work related, and that's how they want it. Prepare for poor training and a terrible schedule, and hopefully you never want to see your family on a holiday again (because that's never going to happen.) This job just isn't worth it, and in the years I was there, in the highest turnover I have ever experienced, I never once saw someone leave in a positive manner. That says a lot. Just google them. Dig deep. It's shady.
