Miserable, No Hope in Sight

Pros

My manager is pretty nice. That's about it.

Cons

I have been trying to leave this company for years. As you can see from the reviews getting worse and worse over time, BE is expanding recklessly and the employees are suffering. No time is taken to fix the broken systems or build competent teams. Just keep opening more showrooms as fast as possible. Training is seemingly nonexistent, so cleaning up other people's repeated errors is a constant. No opportunity to grow, no chance to learn anything new. I'm bored to tears, miserable, at the end of my rope, but nobody cares. Customers are unhappy, too. Product quality isn't what it used to be, and they have every right to be upset. But who cares, as long as BE makes their money? Holiday is a nightmare, and you don't even have the comfort of seeing your family, as you're not allowed any time off. Managers are allowed to do absolutely nothing, but we're told to just work around it when we bring it up. Overall, wouldn't suggest working here to anyone at all.

Pros

The coworkers and manager are incredibly talented, charming, and willing to help each other out at a moment's notice. I enjoyed the laughs, the banter, and group outings. Though the schedules are intense, coming into work every day with amazing people is what made the job worth it.

Cons

But now - In only a week, only one other customer experience associate remains. It's concerning how easily BE is willing to stand idle and watch as their longest-standing and most talented sales reps leave because of burnout, underappreciation, and stress. No, adding more responsibility to the 5 remaining employees to fan the fire is not sustainable. To be able to focus efforts on the customer and success of the company, upper management must work at making the lives of employees comfortable, happy, and properly compensated for the work they do. After all, the showrooms are located in the most expensive cities in the United States where parking is a nightmare, food/clothes/rent are substantially higher. The staff was elite and it's a devastating loss to see them go. Now it feels like the showroom is hanging on by a thread. For the first month, this job requires intense training. Do note: the Training team is really fantastic at their job; it's the business structure of BE that has people running away after their first 2 weeks. Urgent: The success of the company and the customer experience is in hot water. With its severely understaffed team, the current "solution" of forced schedule changes, increase work responsibility, and no change in compensation is unsustainable. Not to mention it does not align with the job description. Customers should look forward to making this monumental purchase in their life. This is not a traditional retail store. Because customer expectations fall short, it will only lead to more escalations, impatience, bad reviews, etc. Time is of the essence as the holiday season is in full swing, and meaningful change must happen now.

Pros

Not too many, some great people although they are being used and abused.

Cons

Where to begin. This company is all about their bottom line, expanding, profiting and cutting costs. Everyone below the higher ups are more or less disposable. It’s very obvious how little they care for the people that work SO hard for them. Upper management created a hostile culture of fear, blame game and pressure that trickles down and has managers throwing their own team members under the bus to save face. There are a ton of broken processes, the customer experience is notoriously horrendous and nothing is being done to prioritize fixing what is broken. The only priority is continuing to make more money and opening more showrooms. This company also has no problem cutting corners to pinch their Pennies when it comes to resolutions to HUGE customer service fails, going back on promises that were already made to customers, and refusing to eat the cost and have some policy flexibility when they mess up as a company. It was hard to stand behind their practices for these reasons. Turnover is so high that everyone who is still there is left to scramble to pick up the pieces. This is constant, leading to burnout, low morale, high turnover and a never ending race out the door. Pto blackout period from thanksgiving through New Years with very inflexible time off during the rest of the year as well, causing more burnout. Last but certainly not least, in addition to being overworked, burned out and unappreciated, as previous reviews have stated, brilliant earth employees are also severely underpaid.
