Cons

Job security is pretty much non-existent now. The push to offshore more and more is ramping up like never before. No matter what your position, at least in the JC office, eventually your job will ho to Hyderabad. Because if this, promotions are also few and far between. Why promo someone you plan on terming in 18 months?

Cons

So many to mention Antiquated system Upper Management clueless to how the Manager manage Cliquish Favoritism to family members, close friends

Pros

For the most part, management encourages new ideas and has an open-door policy. Not too much bureaucracy or red tape when trying to use new technologies or make infrastructure changes. Flexible work environment and adequate work life balance (can work from home some days, which is convenient if you're a parent).

Cons

Some cliquishness, sexism, and lack of diversity in certain teams. Difficult to be taken seriously, much less get a promotion, if your senior teammates are cackling behind your back and shooting down your suggestions. Also, salary is well below market-value for a software developer in NYC. We're writing financial applications here, not assembling iPhone parts in a factory. Fine line, I guess...
