Pros

Great pay, benefits and coworkers

Cons

Some members of management don’t care. Your branch could already be working on skeleton crew and covering managers still expect you to drop everything and help out at another location that was expected to have staffing issues. Manager overlaps their own vacation time and/or time off with other staff members often leaving the branch in critical condition. Back up manager makes you feel guilty for asking for assistance from other branches. Managers cop attitude when you stick up for yourself and/or question their decisions.

Pros

I started at Broadview when it was still SEFCU. I have an advanced degree (same as the President, actually), and felt that my values aligned with the organization. During training, it was constantly mentioned that "if you do the right things... we will promote from within!" I believed the hype. People at the HQ seemed genuine, and I was excited to grow my career. One of the few "Pros" I can offer is that they give away a lot of money to important organizations within the community. However, one community they disregard is their own workforce.

Cons

Two realities exist at Broadview: "Branch" and "Headquarters". In the branch, you are short-staffed, lectured for taking sick days when you really are, in fact, sick, and deal with all of the confrontations - merger-related or not. Even if you have the PTO, you are lectured for being out. Those not in the front line live in an Ivory Tower and have no idea what occurs in the branches. They visit the HQ cafes, have walks on the indoor track during extended lunch breaks, and spend the hard-earned funds from the branch. We allocate money to grow lettuce hydroponically at the Patroon Headquarters while the branch employees are living paycheck to paycheck - dealing with merger questions we simply do not have answers to provide. The "values" are simply smoke and mirrors. If you know someone, you will be promoted. If not, look for a job elsewhere.
