Pros
Well established. Decent pay for the area. Great, updated facilities. Decent benefits. Very steady work. Closed on Sundays. Focused on great products and customer service. Mostly great store and department management. Love the people I work with at the store level.
Cons
Owners are micro managers. Robert Broulim is one of the craziest people I’ve ever known. You have to experience one of his many tirades to understand it. I think he has a good heart way, way, way down deep inside but you rarely see it. Treats employees like 2nd class citizens. Yells at, and berates vendors, department heads and store directors on the sales floor. Very hard on his store directors. Honestly, most employees that I know in the company don’t have even a shred of respect for this man. He has unreasonable expectations and has no idea how hard it is to do the job because he’s never had to do them. Never run a department, let alone a store before. Went to college and then had the company handed to him. He’s a brilliant man with numbers and business ideas, but has zero social skills and no clue how to treat employees with respect. Or just doesn’t care to. At least his dad Richard has a few social skills. A few. Robert’s brother in law and co-owner, Mark Oswald is as arrogant, or even more so, than he is. Broulims will continue to do well and grow despite the owners because of the good people who work for them. Unless Robert drives them all off. They pay management and long time employees just enough that it’s hard to find something comparable....But most of us are still looking.
