Poorly managed.

Pros

There is a morning meeting everyday that is very interesting. They provide full tuition reimbursement. The office is in a great location. Breakfast is provided everyday.

Cons

Frivolous with expenses. Private jets, off sites for executives. Operations staff are underpaid and required to work overtime frequently without pay. When bonus time comes around I saw an average $2k bonus in the operations space.

Pros

Great office on the water in Fells Point. If you know people who you can bring in as clients, then your chances of succeeding and moving up are very good. It's a very old-school investment house with old-school mentality.

Cons

The work/life balance for Operations is shockingly bad. Frequent night work and weekends are expected. The operations department uses outdated technology. Work that should be automated will take hours for someone to manually assemble. The overtime is intense and the bonus is insultingly tiny. Bonus is based on contribution to the business, which means bringing in clients or improving procedures, NOT hours worked. You will basically be expected to work for free (weekends and nights), in hopes that you will someday be promoted into a plush role.

Pros

Fast paced, challenging, entrepreneurial environment A culture of actually caring about clients ahead of the firm's interests Opportunities to grow and advance long before such opportunities would be available at a typical Wall Street firm Equity ownership in the firm is encouraged and made available to all employees

Cons

Back office suffers from a lack of experience, accountability and weak leadership. Pace of growth does not lend itself to those expecting a well-formed, clear career path or established management training Offices outside of Baltimore don't fully buy in to the firm's investment process and are allowed to chart their own path
