- lots of diversity - hard to get fired - treat people fairly - lots of opportunities to move around

Cons

- pay is low but that is to be expected for a university - location of providence is a hard draw

People are pretty flexible, though it depends who your direct boss is. Departments can feel insulated from the general university, which means that graduate students generally don't have to worry about university politics. Faculty are generally friendly and supportive.

Cons

Long hours best describe a graduate student's life, but this is true anywhere. Support greatly depends on the department and professor a student is working for, so funding may or may not be an issue.

Good if you are interested in graduate studies, else use your time else where. PhD takes time and commitment, not for every one.

Cons

some times graduate students can feel isolated, Brown is geared towards undergraduates. I guess the situations has been brought up a number of times.
