Pros

Good if you are interested in graduate studies, else use your time else where. PhD takes time and commitment, not for every one.

Cons

some times graduate students can feel isolated, Brown is geared towards undergraduates. I guess the situations has been brought up a number of times.

Pros

The faculty are among the top in the field. Great hands on experience for those wanting a future in a science and technology field.

Cons

Facilities are not the best. There isn't much to do in Providence besides hang out with your friends. I would recommend taking the RIPTA for free into Newport which is a very fun city.

Pros

There is a lot of cross-discipline collaboration in many of the university's academic departments. Most principal investigators are willing to talk to you regarding their research and potentially collaborate.

Cons

Sometimes there is too much collaboration in the research which can lead to a dilution in the efforts in a particular field. In addition, in engineering the requirements are a bit lax. As a result, the training of a particular graduate can vary greatly across individuals with no real possibility for recourse for the student.
