Pros

Rewarding working with children who have Autism

Cons

Some employees like to bully others. You have to chase after your child, literally and can't restrain them. You have to stand in front of them to keep them from leaving the area. They tend to get physical with staff, and you just have to take it. However, you know what your getting into when you choose to work with autistic children. It is not for the weak.

Pros

Working with the clients is the best part. Also the supportive team of fellow therapists.

Cons

The unlivable wage (35-hr week, $21.25/hr, $0.50 raise upon receiving RBT certification) The dehumanizing point system that penalizes you for getting sick (while working in childcare...) The outdated data collection methods that require a significant amount of unnecessary extra work/time without any additional compensation. The deteriorating facilities (only 1 custodian for the entire center, broken windows covered with cardboard for months, erratic heating/cooling throughout, etc.) I worked at BBT (and received nothing but positive reviews) for 3 months. During that time, I was out for a total of 5 days due to illness (2 in October, 3 in November). I was not paid for those days, nor was I paid for the Thanksgiving holiday break, which was understandable (as I was still within my probationary 90 days). However, due to the "points" that I accrued due to my absences, they notified me (a week beforehand) that they were going to extend my probation to the end of January, and I therefore would not be receiving holiday pay for 4 days (Christmas & New Years). Furthermore, they were about to implement a new sick policy, but not retroactively. When I was (understandably) upset by this decision, they chose to terminate me because I was "not a good fit". It's really not a terrible place to work, all things considered (if you like the job). But don't ever convince yourself that they care about you or that you are valuable to them - you are not. You are never more than replaceable.
