Pros

Gain knowledge, create connections, employees have strong work ethic

Cons

The culture is only value the dollar and not the people that help bring in the dollars. It meets its profit margin with short sighted goals, is not strategic. Increased turnover, and valuable knowledge leaves. The employees are not valued and HR does not provide useful information, the department is slow in responses to basic Benefit questions and it seems as though the department does not know what they are doing. There is quite a bit of turnover in HR and the knowledge left the building. The VP of HR is unapproachable and never available. The CEO is not in touch with the employees nor are the COO's with the expeception of one. There is a very distrubing under current.

Corporate in the Worst Sense

Pros

Good local staff. But they were that way before BV bought them,

Cons

This is a huge, french company and make no mistake -- they do not care about their people, they care solely about their bottom line. The people in the various local offices are good at what they do, but they do not make the decisions. The higher ups in the office I was at would not even pay for flowers to be sent to a sick staff member. And they will lay off good people without notice, without severance, with barely a nod towards the door. Because it has gobbled up a lot of local companies, it is both cheap like a small company but huge and unorganized monster with the left hand doing one thing...and the right doing god knows what. And truly no one does know what.

Pros

Can't think of anything that isn't offered at any other public company

Cons

Turnover has to be north of 25%, layoffs to make Budget from France are part of the culture, your job will never be safe. Same goes for the amount of firings that take place, from my experience I got the feeling that a sacrificial firing was demanded by Paris leadership anytime something went wrong. Don't expect a raise over 2%, and your bonus will be completely based on whether your group makes your unrealistic budget. Expect to work overtime/late nights, hazing, and a hostile work environment. Even people you work with (not under), anyone who is still there has embodied the culture. Some good examples: If you're on vacation and something goes wrong while you are out, expect a meeting to b scheduled during your trip for the first morning back. You may be pressured to make accruals to meet earnings one month, and then have to explain why you missed earnings the next month when the accrual reverses. Turnover is so bad they caught on and won't even vest your 401k until your 3rd year.
