Pros
Actual fully remote positions are available. I made lifelong friends with coworkers and direct managers, and the brands consolidated under BDG can definitely churn out quality content, and do it well. Being fully remote, I was never micromanaged. I was trusted to manage my own time as long as my work was complete. Granted, this may have been due to my stellar direct manager rather than corporate management.
Cons
Oh boy, this company is extremely mismanaged. Besides brands being siloed away from one another and management having some of the poorest communication practices I've ever experienced in my career, some business practices were downright shady. There have been several rounds of layoffs in the last year alone, and multiple formerly successful brands have been shuttered simply due to mismanagement after being acquired by Bustle. It's almost laughable how bad these business decisions are. Everyone who built and worked for our beloved brand, for example, was laid off due to the company "consolidating resources," and now the company has begun posting a minimum amount of content to its social channels (probably by an unpaid intern) to make it appear as if it is still live and viable for potential ads—corporate greed at its worst. You will not be a family here. You will not be cared for. You might gain some experience in your chosen field, but never let your guard down and keep that resume updated.
