great place for decent salary account management or extremely patient and aggressive sales reps
Pros
Great health benefits. free dental. 3 weeks of vacation. unlimited earning potential. laid back environment in Chicago. minimal dress code. young crowd. decent after-work team building outings. access to senior reps to help with your sales. easy to commute to. next to a grocery store so lunches can be cheap. lots of available modes of transportation to sell. cash prizes for halloween costume contest and free entry into March Madness.
Cons
depending on what side of the business you sell, working with the other side can be difficult because everyone is out to make a buck. it feels like people on the other side you are trying to work with become hostile if you question their service. lots of overhead to overcome before you break even and start making commission. Corporate nickels and dimes customer sales people with spread change fees, interest charge penalties, and all sorts of other fees. little opportunity for advancement other than making more sales. manager will tell you that you are basically running your own business, then after you have invested a year building up your customer base, turn around and tell you you need to start making lots of money for the company and the business you built, while adequate, isn't what they had in mind. There is also a lot of turnover between 2-3 years at the Chicago office which negatively affects me b/c its not a stable work environment.
