Pros

Great health benefits. free dental. 3 weeks of vacation. unlimited earning potential. laid back environment in Chicago. minimal dress code. young crowd. decent after-work team building outings. access to senior reps to help with your sales. easy to commute to. next to a grocery store so lunches can be cheap. lots of available modes of transportation to sell. cash prizes for halloween costume contest and free entry into March Madness.

Cons

depending on what side of the business you sell, working with the other side can be difficult because everyone is out to make a buck. it feels like people on the other side you are trying to work with become hostile if you question their service. lots of overhead to overcome before you break even and start making commission. Corporate nickels and dimes customer sales people with spread change fees, interest charge penalties, and all sorts of other fees. little opportunity for advancement other than making more sales. manager will tell you that you are basically running your own business, then after you have invested a year building up your customer base, turn around and tell you you need to start making lots of money for the company and the business you built, while adequate, isn't what they had in mind. There is also a lot of turnover between 2-3 years at the Chicago office which negatively affects me b/c its not a stable work environment.

Pros

Growing the buisness grows your paycheck. Managers are flexible when you need time off, even if the reason is a bit odd. The key to success here is easy use your phones, most of us have two on our desk for a reason. Still thinking? Duh, it's to use both at the same time.

Cons

The phone rings all the damn time and the 20 somethings I want it all seem not to hear it. Must be the hearing loss from their car stereos. I think the phone ringing is causing me to pull my hair out. My wife even says it's thinning.

Pros

Fun atmosphere, Very similar to a college frat house. Fast paced environment, never bored. Made a lot of new friends, good resume builder, opportunity to make a lot of money.

Cons

NO opportunity for advancement at all, only able to make more money. Very little guidance, supposedly a great sales training program, but only if you are one of the favorites. If you are one of the "chosen ones" accounts are handed out to you regularly and you receive an incredible amount of support. However, if you are one of the other 98% you are left with no guidance on your own and told to try and make it work. The Chicago Central office is completely different from every other office, so don't take this as indicative of all of CH Robinson, just Chicago Central.
