Terrible Leadership

Pros

Nice people, aside from the CEO, who runs the place by fear and intimidation. Decent tech and educational incentives. Good food (when there was catered lunches).

Cons

A culture of fear of making mistakes, with no leeway to try something new. If it didn't come from the CEO, it doesn't matter. CEO leads by decree, and is the de facto CIO, CHRO, CMO--they all just do what he tells them. CEO decisions are executed without question or discussion. Dept heads are basically Yes men (and they're almost all men). Informal but consistent pressure on employees to write positive Glassdoor reviews. Low morale, specially since work from home began, which got lower after CEO required many employees to log accomplishments by the hour.

Worst experience - stay away

Pros

Free food and a nice office (which requires daily attendance), but people are fired to make quarterly PL to look better.

Cons

If you are applying for jobs there, expect that people around you could be fired at any time. This typically happens prior to RSUs vesting or bonus payments, and people are often given performance reasons for termination even if they never had any performance issues in the past. It's a total top-down culture coming from TS. Some top managers are very incompetent, and micromanagement is rampant. Almost the entire sales team was replaced in 2 years, with the exception of a few individuals owning big accounts. If you're applying to sales, think twice. You will be placed in a highly stressful environment with zero trust. You probably won't be able to meet quotas and will be fired at the beginning of the quarter, then asked to sign a Termination Agreement to relinquish your rights to sue the company. It's a toxic environment, and many people are just waiting for a better economic climate to leave. The engineering team hates the product they build and it tells a lot.

Pros

Coworkers are smart. You get to work with interesting projects. You get to learn a lot from your peers. Free lunch and free gym.

Cons

- Management is careless about your health and your family health. If your coworker tests positive to Covid, you are still expected to come to work the next day. They don’t care if you have a newborn at home whose immune system is still weak, and that you may give your child the virus you catch at work. - The CEO when being asked if the company would move towards WFH flexibility, he responded “well, if you want to WFH, then go work for Facebook.” This shows that management doesn’t believe in remote working and will never change their minds.
