Great name, great overall strategy but not very nimble

Pros

Great overall strategy. Great experience. Nice name to have on resume. This is a great place to learn about EITM, ITIL, security as they have a strong learning management system in place. They have done a good job salvaging their name and their efforts have paid off. The people are great ---- most are very innovative, smart, articulate and professional.

Cons

Very heirarchical. Very slow to move. Little advancement. Very bureaucratic to the detriment of innovation and morale. Some policies and procedures simply don't make sense - they serve no purpose other than just another layer of complexity. Some processes were from the 80s ... outdated.

Pros

CA has some interesting technology to work with. The company is generally a pleasant place to work. There are some really good people at CA to work with. The company now does an excellent job of managing the company from a cost and corporate perspective, i.e. the high level leadership team is doing a great job.

Cons

CA in general terms is a pretty decent company to work for. The company could improve its standing from a job satisfaction perspective. The company appears to follows the GE/Jack Welch 20-70-10 method of ranking employees but ignores the part about treating the middle 70% as if they were the bread and butter of the company. You have to be a pretty good self promoter to get ahead, if you are not, your contributions will likely go unrecognized.

Pros

A market leader, some interesting areas of growth. small pockets of excellence (if you happen to be in them), good work-life balance and decent compensation.

Cons

A micro-management approach towards employees, no trust placed by senior management in the Indian development center. Lack of opportunities in working at India center coupled with risk-averse nature makes it difficult to work creatively. The middle management layer is not the most competent I have seen and often makes decisions due to political reasons.
