Good exposure to programmatic work in global health however definite management issues (not just at higher levels)
Pros
Great exposure to extremely important work. CARE has a solid history working for a great cause. People are passionate and good to work with. Room for learning new things.
Cons
Poor professional etiquette in managing people - leads to a loss of integrity and is often reflected by a lack of confidence and trust in management (not only higher-level executive management). Any pride you have to work with as part of an organization that does this great work ends up being tainted by the effects of poor management and many unfulfilled words. Seems to have serious issues retaining talent and nurturing growth of employees. Middle management comes across insensitive at times to their employee's situation aggravating already high-levels of job insecurity and anxiety. Overall, CARE USA has had better days, would recommend looking to organizations that can offer a more stable working environment and greater sensitivity to better weather these already uncertain times.
