Pros

Employee owned company that is leading the municipal sector for water and wastewater. Management are great and the corporate office is trying to make the company better.

Cons

Competitive salary not a given, salary increases are gradual which is a real challenge. Most raises of significance have to be fought for.

Pros

Great Firm.. Employee owned company that allows the firm to operate, invest, and grow as the owning employees choose. CDM Smith has a competitive salary structure and far above average benefit plan than typical environmental engineering firms. Prides itself on impeccable client service.

Cons

The firm is committed to increasing employee engagement and staff retention. CDM currently has a lower staff turnover rate than over firms but increasing the focus on this is paramount

Pros

Plenty of knowledgeable folks Many challenging projects CDMs' yammer program was good for technical dialogue among engineers Great resources for engineers Mentorship program is a great for young engineers

Cons

Pay is not competitive Hardly any opportunities for technical training Employee utilization rates needs an overhaul Regional Team Leaders discourage overhead charges to make their team's utilization rates look good although employees are without billable work. 401k is typical in the industry
