Pros

Great pay as a MIT (however, this is only for the 1st year) CEO is very humble Company allows you to explore all areas of employment City Furniture is a great place to work at if you are single and ambitious GM is great, very understanding and willing to help his employees with scheduling and training

Cons

Where do I begin?! When I first started working at CF, I had the ambition to work hard to eventually move up within the company. However, this was very difficult for me for one solitary reason, management. I was acknowledged for my hard work, but I was dealing with constant sexual harassment by my mentors. It got to the point that it created problems amongst my marriage. Regardless, of my hard work and determination, I was left with the impression that this individual was well protected, and my complaints would have become dirt brushed under a rug. Another manager had explained that this was not the first time this individual encountered this issue. Because I failed to give in towards his advances, he began to make my time with CF unbearable. Ultimately this led me to leave the company for another position elsewhere which paid a lot less. This descision says a lot about the situation. This was not the only issue I noticed, this individual also did so much unethical things within the company. He would rewrite orders under his number. For example, One young lady was about to be terminated so he took her orders that were not finalized under his name to meet his quotas. Aside from the chaos created in the store, in order to advance within the company you would have to devote your soul in order to see some form of promotion which is good, but as I said this is a place for single individuals. There is a lot of unethical behavior within the workplace, and A different system should be in place to avoid this from happening.

Pros

Many perks for employees to stay. bonuses, discounts.

Cons

Upper managements has deteriorated for the last 7 years, trying to copy a Japanese business model which does not work on the american worker. Family own so there are no upper management opportunities unless you are family.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. City Furniture takes all matters of discrimination very seriously and all claims are thoroughly investigated. Our culture is extremely family spirited due, in part, to our promote-from-within philosophy. We pride ourselves on having a transparent and in-depth promotion process. We focus on building an environment where our associates enjoy coming to work and can build lasting and rewarding careers.

Pros

Coworkers were nice and friendly for the most part.

Cons

Favoritism is huge. Suck ups get promoted over those who perform better. Schedule sucks. They promote family first but with the mandatory meetings, black out dates, and working every weekend there is almost no time for family. Every year they find a way to make getting bonus even more difficult. You have to do a lot of work for not a lot of money.
