Pros

City Furniture has huge growth potential with lots of opportunities for new managers and associates who work hard. Lots of innovation, training opportunities and focus on developing better sales associates and leaders. I was recruited from college as a MIT and was quickly promoted to General Manager, along with many other college recruits. Promotion preference is given to performance over tenure. Top notch, beautiful products to sell! The company has excellent values and vision, and invests in the right things, like learning and development, recycling and using eco-friendly products in the furniture. Recent improvements for balancing work/life, especially for working mothers, and allowing time off on weekends for events.

Cons

Typical retail schedule and you must be resilient to work with the South Florida public!

Pros

As a sales associate you have the opportunity to make very good money if you are willing to put in the necessary hours and effort. If you are interested in growing with the company, there are many management positions available throughout the 25+ stores that we operate. You get very good real life experience in running a business for entrepreneurs who need experience. The owner and Vice Presidents are as good as it gets. They are very supportive in helping you grow and appreciative for all that you contribute. The benefits are very good with health/dental, vacation pay, discounts, etc.

Cons

Work life balance is difficult especially if your spouse works traditional Monday-Friday schedule. Holidays and weekends are busiest times and you must be there for every single one. Some days can be slow and you need to be able to roll with the ups and downs. Working with customers and helping them when things go wrong can sometimes be stressful. Many different departments affect your guests experience which can sometimes turn out poorly, and you are the person who has to take the brunt of it from the customer.
