Work independently, set my own schedule...to a point

Cons

Work 70 hours a week with poor compensation. No recognition for a job well done. An employee review is more like an examination and ratio analysis of budget hours and billings compared to WIP. No acknowledgement for working beyond contract hours, you just work for free. No actual vacation, management claims to give you 4 weeks but when your actual work hours exceed the total annual hours, that should have included vacation hours, you really don't have a paid vacation. Not enough staff to cover regular ongoing work to enable taking a full week of vacation at once. Taking an occasional Monday or Friday off to get a 3 day weekend doesn't really give you the needed time away from the office to rejuvenate.

Nothing to say here. They do what they must but fall short in many ways.

Where does one begin? This place is a Shipwreck!!! PERKS: No such thing. No incentive to try harder! They work you to death; no work life balance; there is a pseudo coaching program but no one knows how to coach; poor management; one can advance as long as one is popular; not based on ability or skills. SEATTLE OFFICE HORRIBLE MORALE!! Everyone is stressed out!! Management is disorganized. Tax department is out of control - poorly run. IMMHO - this is not career building!!! These folks are completely out of touch with the real world and the needs of their employees.

There was huge opportunity for personal growth at CLA. It is one of the fastest growing CPA firms in the nation, and this allowed me as a staff and a senior associate to take part in client proposals and presentations. Being put into these experiences with little experience was a huge learning opportunity and led to a quick promotion.

Cons

Work-life balance, lower pay in comparison to other large accounting firms.
