Pros

401k, hybrid, great team mates

Cons

Micro-managing nightmare. Management uses bullying style of management; all buyers know it but keep quiet in fear of retaliation or being fired as management has been the same for many years. You are made to feel like you are always walking on pins and needles. Being singled out in meetings in front of your peers is very common. Micromanaging is beyond reason so much so that you begin to question your worth within the company, you begin to second guess your decisions and start questioning your abilities. If management is unhappy about something a new "rule" might suddenly be enforced and you are reprimanded outright if you didn't abide by it before the communication took place. Yearly Reviews are in part based on your teammate’s impression of you although you are not physically in the same location, you are required to clock in even though you are salaried. Much favoritism is displayed in favor of those who have learned the only way to lessen the probabilities of being the next target is by brown nosing. Favored buyers get less workload while there are some working even on weekends to keep up. If you are looking for a micro-managing atmosphere where your work is not appreciated, your efforts go unnoticed, expectations can vary at any given moment, and salary is on the low end of the spectrum then this is the place for you.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are good, they are good about working with you on your schedule if you have family or doctor's appointments.

Cons

Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. The do not treat you fairly, if you are not in the "clique" might as well kiss your career there goodbye. If the Director were not there, I believe it would be a better place to work. He really sets the tone and it is not a good one, but as I said before, if you are in his "clique" then you are golden, you do not have a thing to worry about. You will be bullied while working there if you don't fit in. It started off great, but once they have you reeled in and "drinking" the kool-aid, everything goes downhill. Terrible place to work.

Pros

I was able to get some really good experience working with CMC, as I was new to the steel industry when I joined the company. Many of the leaders have been with the company, which meant they had deep bench strength in terms of talent. Most of the employees I worked with were very humble and down to earth.

Cons

CMC is very set in their ways, and despite being brought into the company to help elevate my function, many of my ideas or suggestions were disregarded without explanation. Often I felt secluded as I was not part of the 'boys club', and I had a difficult time connecting with many of the managers, who felt that my role was to do their bidding and not question anything.
