Pros

Good people. Company was an amazing place to work before 2018.

Cons

Current CEO and former CITO have lost the trust of employees. 2019 was brutal. Layoffs, outsourcing with few details, hasty decision to cut bonuses for employees.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. 2019 was a tough year with labour stoppages and declines in volumes, which led to objectives that were not met. We understand your disappointment in regards to the bonus. As you know, we have made modifications to our bonus structure so that moving forward, the threshold to attaining even a partial bonus will be easier to reach. We recommend you speak with your manager or Human Resources Business Partner to share your thoughts.

Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, good co-workers all make for a tolerable career choice. Depending on the department you have the chance for re-location across North America.

Cons

Most managers are promoted based on whom they know or on their willingness to bend rules and maximize profits. There is little leadership training and instead on-the-job learning is used. I can only speak to my experience in Operations and recommend anyone does research before hiring on. You will get a decent salary but it comes at a great personal cost.

Pros

Excellent pay with no specialized skill set required.

Cons

The worst possible health and safety system I have ever encountered. All injuries are met with discipline and points, 60 points and you're fired. This work environment is extremely dangerous and management is not making any effort to make it safer or even examine the current hazards. Near misses do not get reported as those are also met with punishment. This work environment is micromanaged to the extreme; you're footsteps, hand movements, and the direction your head is facing all need to align with the rules or you'll receive points and be fired. The use of fear and scare tactics, humiliation, and bullying are extremely common. Management views all employees as unmotivated and careless; employees must be scolded and monitored closely to ensure they are working and following rules. There is also no room for advancement even though they preach it when you start. If you have started out as a unionized employee than management will not allow you to transfer into one of their positions. A manager once told me "unionized employees can't make it through the unionized experience unscathed."
