Safety hypocrites

Nothing. They don’t even pay you good until you qualify.

Cons

Overworked, underpaid when you’re new. They say safety is important but constantly break their own rules to get faster results. Managers are fine breaking rules and conductors are even better at it. Nobody cares here. The safety situation is hypocritical. Most senior employees treat everyone like garbage. No respect in the work place. OJTs lie right to your face about your progress. Trainers are working for management. They will fire you for any reason even if it’s made up.

When we recruit talent to our teams we spend a lot of time going over the realities associated with the railroad operating 24/7/365 days a year, including how being on call can disrupt your family life and important events.
