Pros

Salary is very good, benefits are fantastic, work life balance is good, you are able to work from home if needed, overall the benefits are great.

Cons

CNA is moving to a "managed services" model and therefore outsourcing the entire IT department. Hundreds of people are losing their jobs, and while they wait for their time to run out must train the people taking over their jobs.

Pros

Employees are very hard working and most are very helpful and willing to pull together as a team. Everyone freely shares knowledge and is willing to go the extra mile to help you. Benefits are above average and compensation and bonuses are excellent for those that work hard.

Cons

Most of Information Technology staff is about to be outsourced or let go. Unless you have specific skills needed for the transition, you will not move forward with the organization. Management has difficulty in making decisions which causes unnecessary work, rework and churn - however an enterprising employee quickly learns to ignore it and get the job done despite the roadblocks.

Pros

It is located in a fantastic location -- downtown Chicago. There are many opportunities to move around the various different areas within the company. If you want to "cruise", you can lay low and never be noticed. If you want to "move up", you can easily find ways to be recognized and move ahead.

Cons

There was very poor morale when I was there. Management was poor in communication.
