Pros

Fair PTO, nice lunch room, casual dress

Cons

Little or no advancement opportunities. It's the good ole' boys club at COCC, that operates on a " who you know basis". Hard work, reliability , and being a solid employee does count, but no at review time. If you have a relative or friend of a friend you move quickly up the ranks. If you're a "regular joe" plugging along your chances to advance are minimal. Small company, small paycheck, and small opportunity to grow. Okay job, not a career

We are aware that this is one of several reviews from the same former employee posted on multiple sources who unfortunately was one of the few who did not have a good experience here at COCC. While we always attempt to hire candidates who fit our culture, there is sometimes a disconnect. However, we believe that our eight consecutive years as a Top Workplace in Connecticut has not happened by accident, and our continued efforts to engage with our employees and respond to their feedback have been worthwhile. We continue to receive recognition from our employees, our clients, and the industry overall because of our highly engaged workforce that truly does make COCC a great place to work!

Pros

On site parking, casual dress

Cons

Unfortunately not much room to grow internally. Many of the positions are entry level and require minimal training, and many of the jobs go to someone with some sort of family connection. Most companies have an anti-nepotism policy, COCC encourages it. Another Con is really low pay coming in the door, raises are very minimal as well. COCC offers a starter type of job, but not a place you can/will make a career. No surprise they have high turnover and are constantly hiring

COCC has a strong employee referral program – in fact, most of our new hires in the past several years have been referred by current employees. Our employees love working here and love referring their friends and family to a company that has been named a Top Workplace for eight years in a row. Our clients love us too – that’s why we are growing! We have a lot of great career opportunities available – ranging from entry level to highly experienced – because we’re working hard to meet our clients’ growing needs. We love working with people who embrace our culture, and it’s our culture that is helping us win new clients and new awards across the region!

We foster a professional environment, where everyone has a voice. Building trust and respect is a priority, and we support this through our Core Values and in everything we do. We encourage continuous feedback from employees and utilize biannual engagement questionnaires, focus groups and employee surveys. We have been elected both a Top Workplace and Best Place to Work by our employees multiple times as a result. If you are looking to be more than just a number in a big corporate machine, COCC is a great place to be.
