      Pros

      Wages are good Benefits excellent Some opportunity for movement within the company Working for a company with a long history is interesting Some newer technologies are being introduced into IT A on-paper roadmap that is interesting.

      Cons

      Very little work/life balance. Expectation of to get things done no matter what, as quickly as possible with no regard to personnel. Zero recognition by the company for anything well done. After all the long hours and hard work don't expect anything at all besides maybe a firm handshake. Very much a revolving door of people in IT. Always people leaving taking with them valuable knowledge.

      Nothing positive to report on the program, or CP.

      Cons

      The LMT program is a joke. They'll tell you anything you need to hear during the interview process to get you to Calgary. They aren't looking for intelligent employees, just warm bodies to fill the roles because the turnover rate is so high. Except 60+ hour work weeks every week with no O/T, until they burn you out. You probably won't finish the program though, most don't. The railway is the still the old boys club, and the culture/attitudes still very much reflect that despite what "policies" CP has in place. Safety takes a back seat to productivity the second you leave the classroom.

      Easily the worst employer in Calgary for IT Professionals!!

      Pros

      Nothing really good here. The only thing if any is the pay, but this is more than compensated by treating employees like dirt, slaves...This was not the case couple of years back, but change in management especially IT senior management has caused this.

      Cons

      No respect for any employee, zero motivation, over burdened work, targeting employees not liked by management and make sure that they perform badly by over burdening with work and then firing them, no sense of planning in any of the IT Managers, 10-15 hours per day of work is a norm and even then always work with a fear of getting fired, worst management attitude, full of politics
