Pros

1. A good place to build experience in developing gene editing therapies before moving on to better companies that compensate employees fairly and treat them like human beings. 2. If you're into learning by example, this is a great place for cautionary examples about how not to build a company. Rampant bullying and favoritism permeate the culture from top to bottom.

Cons

1. Senior managment is out way beyond their depth, and the CEO has surrounded himself with a cadre of maladjusted sycophants interested only in their own advancement and personal enrichment. 2. High turnover at all levels and in all departments. Even taking COVID into account, turnover is exceptionally high. 3. Senior managment is big on "optics" but seems incapable of delivering anything substantive beyond hemoglobinopathies.

Great science/people, management plays favorites

Pros

Interesting science and platform, most people are fantastic to work with.

Cons

Great company if you're a male with 18 mos of consulting experience at mckinsey and a masters who the CEO is also obsessed with. You can go from entry level analyst to VP/head of a department in 6 years. Company doesn't care for title consistency across departments as there are scientists and other GA with tenure, and advanced degrees, who have made important contributions who constantly get passed up for promotions bc they aren't part of the chosen favorites. HR also actively works against people getting recognition and pull bait and switches on new candidates re: titles.
