Pros

Preeminent gene editing company with smart, innovative, high-performing people. Diverse therapeutic areas/modalities in distinct franchises. Each franchise is like a small biotech so opportunity for a long-term career development by moving across different franchises.

Cons

There is blatant favoritism. The top level inner circle is a handful of young management consultants. There is zero interest in valuing experienced drug developers ideas and perspectives. McKinsey training is valued above all else. The lack of experience is going to be detrimental to the future success of the company .

Pros

Some soft perks (lunch reimbursement, on site gym, etc.) and generous benefits, including a winter holiday shut down.

Cons

Toxic, insanely political C suite. Senior leaders gossip, maneuver, bicker and blame - while program teams are left without clear direction. Unless you’ve previously worked as a management consultant at McKinsey, life in the “CRISPR family” will feel miserable.

Pros

If you're looking for a place to gain a lot of valuable experience, it's great. They are definitely leaders in the gene therapy space and the science is awesome. If you're a student fresh out of school or someone who's just finished their post-doc, it's an ideal place to get into biotech.

Cons

I was verbally offered a SRA position with a normal median salary, which was fine. When I got the written offer, it was a title lower and the pay was significantly less. The problem was that I had already turned down a different offer, so I was stuck with what they gave me. I tried negotiating, but the HR rep barely budged. In my first 2.5 months, 5 people in my department quit. All of them stated their reasons for leaving were burnout, pay, title, and growth problems. Advancement is painfully slow, so you'll need to be happy with the title you hire in with for a while.
