Pros
Pharmacist pay probably higher than similar chains, but terrible reluctance to treat pharmacists as professionals. Great pride in being innovators in pharmacy, but they fail to distinguish between innovation and gimmicks. FINALLY got rid of tobacco sales - and of course capitalized on that gimmick - excuse me "innovation", "training" their pharmacists to becoming tobacco cessation counselors. No time to counsel; training was woefully inadequate.
Cons
Failure to distinguish between training and telling/teaching. Good businesses (in a capital market) exploit assets, not stakeholders. CVS fails to recognize that customers and employees are stakeholders. Good businesses do not exploit their stakeholders. They talk a good talk about customer service but fail to provide the payroll hours to give even marginal customer service. The bean-counters have won the day and don't even realize they're counting theoretical beans.
