Pros

Pay was one, until they started cutting store hours and paying you less for same work.

Cons

Too many to list. Mostly pharmacy supervisors that devalue our profession. They trap you into managing as they won't let you step down. Multiple legal requirements not met due to lack of staffing. They make you sign 100s of policies saying you will comply but knowing that it would take the work of 3 people to fulfill all their needs. They have destroyed the human component to pharmacy with all the automation and you spend most of your day essentially marketing for their HMO. This should be illegal.

Pros

Quarterly bonuses and opportunities for overtime partially make up for low salary.

Cons

Unrealistic metrics (bane of call center jobs everywhere), inadequate training, seeing people waiting weeks for medications needed to treat life-threatening medical conditions and knowing I can't do anything to help them.

Awful Place To Work

Pros

Competitive Pay and Benefits, not much else.

Cons

I was with CVS for almost 12 years and it was a Great place to work when Tom Ryan was the CEO, but when he stepped down the heart, Soul and Spirit of the company left with him. He was an amazing leader who cared as much about his employees as he cared about his customers and stockholders. Tom ended almost every address to employees with the same signature line "In our pursuit to be the best place to work" A CEO who understood the business value of employees who liked where they worked would be more engaged and would translate into better business results. The CEO put in charge after Tom and still in the CEO chair has either never learned this key lesson or has chose to ignore it. His focus is on cutting costs, not adequately resourcing his functional teams, instilling unreasonable expectations of all employed there and giving little thought to work life balance. A real shame, it really was an employer of choice at one time but now is nothing more than a Soulless Machine with employees who are viewed as cog's in that machine and as easily replaced.
