Pros

The starting pay is good. New employee training is very hands-on.

Cons

Management portrays this company as "the best" company to work for, but it is far from what they say. CVS doesn't pay CCRs enough to deal with the verbal abuse doled out by the callers. You are supposed to be polite even when the callers are being hateful. The unrealistic expectations are unheard of.

Pros

It might look good on a resume? Maybe?

Cons

Unless you are a pharmacist or an ivy league grad stay away from here. It is a career dead end. If you are one of those you should definitely apply. You will be able to do near nothing and coast by with a good salary. For everyone else, you will be treated like third class steerage on the Titanic. Kept away from important projects and your salary will probably be 20-30K less than your peers, most of whom are pretty incompetent. The company has a very hierarchical culture and while they claim they do innovation they don't. Bonuses this year were terrible as the company is going down hard. They made some very bad business decisions. Google "CVS TRICARE" for a sampling. Also, for a healthcare company they have some pretty awful health benefits, especially for families. You will be paying a huge amount out of pocket before your insurance kicks in. Have some self respect and look elsewhere. You will find that dream job.

Pros

None. Seriously: None. Not joking by a long shot.

Cons

Unbelievable turnover as they fail to care at all for their people. Low pay for associates and supervisors. Few FT opportunities. Most front stores running on minimum payroll without flexibility. There will be times when there is one supervisor or manager covering the registers and the floor (no backroom support). Difficult bonus structure to meet with a max of about 12%. I had associates in my store who, before I got there, hadn't gotten a review or raise in years. No training for store managers on pharmacy which accounts for 75% of your business. Area support staff stretched thin so they are of no support. Theft is high especially in stores with liquor. Company is hypocritical. They claim to be all about health when the stopped selling cigarettes, when they still sell liquor and made no profit on cigarettes anyway. Absolutely no work life balance. This isn't your usual over exaggeration. Compared to the other 5 retailers I've worked for this is at least 4 times worst than the worst. No future if you don't have a degree. Unrealistic expectations of productivity on resets and expired products. So much so that one could go in to any store and find several shopping carts of expired products on the floor if you chose to. Terrible shrink mitigation practices. I wouldn't take this job again for 100k. Seriously. Try to avoid if possible. These aren't the rants of someone who was fired. I resigned even though I was in there foundations for leadership to be a DM.
