Pros

Paid training. 8-4:30 shift during 3 week training.

Cons

Call center job in Monroeville Pa. Screen projectors you cannot read. Rushed training from workers who still do daily work instead of just training. Contract with training company will not do the 13 weeks of training so they pull people (leads) off workday to fill in. First day of training our "trainer" stated she hated training. Training during a migration from one database to another is very difficult for any company. She did not go over all steps to complete a phone call from or to a customer. Automated outbound calls can call a patient up to 5 times even though the customer was resolved on first call. CVS is currently migrating from mainframe mainframe to a online like platform that isn't complete, phone scripts are horrid to follow and wrong. On multiple screens you have to remember not to say certain things and try to wing it. It's quite possible they have a 25 year old doing the programming, out of twelve new recruits in our class half were gone after the first week. Two of the full time reps didn't even get a one week pay before Christmas due to an HR failure. Big pharma to treat symptoms so they can sell product. It's horrible customer service. If you like up to 5 call resolution and 10 minutes a week to use the restroom during a 40 hour week then this is the job for you.

No work life balance

Pros

*They hire new grads. Once new grads realize what this job all entails and they get their experience in they quit-usually after a few months. *Salary is quite competitive but if you value work life balance the salary won’t matter because there is no balance.

Cons

*Working every other weekend is very difficult for people with families. *The hours are very long. It states the clinic is open until 7:30pm but you will almost always be there past 7:30pm especially for clinics that are very busy. *You are required to be on call. *High turn over. *Always short staffed. *You will get bombarded with text messages, phone calls, and emails to ask you to cover shifts when the clinics are short staffed. *The practitioner has to register the patient, this means get their insurance card and have general knowledge in regards to insurances, take cash or credit card payments, order all supplies for the clinic including vaccines and POCT testing, clean the exam rooms, perform all the QC testing, check fire extinguishers near the clinic, perform a fire drill with store personnel, and many many more tasks. *The company is always expanding their services and you are required to learn new systems with minimal help. You must perform DOT exams, wellness exams (similar to the exams required by Medicare), urine and hair drug testing, some chronic care, travel health, STD checks are just a few of the visit types. This is much more than a retail walk in clinic. You might as well work at a family practice clinic. *PTO is accumulated at such a ridiculously low rate. *It is very difficult to get time off approved. Don’t even think about asking off around the holidays. *Most all holidays clinics are open so be prepared to work a few holidays a year. *Management is never accessible. You really are all on your own.

Pros

Pay is decent There are no other pros The program is trying to make me write 20 words but there are no other pros!!!! None.

Cons

Have to do things that have nothing to do with being an NP (lots of admin duties) Constant oversight, limited scope of practice and chart reviews do not allow you to practice to the full extent of your education. I do not feel like I should have to explain to upper management "why" I gave someone an antibiotic. Patients are rude and demanding and do not respect you as a medical professional You work alone and can get bombarded with multiple patients at once and they are rude and impatient because they have to wait Have to do DOT physicals and almost none of the patients have their forms filled out prior to coming and the exams are extremely time consuming The company needs to provide the NP with HELP! There should be a person checking in the patients and a tech to help!!! It's unreasonable to expect the NP to do everything for the visit from start to finish! Health insurance plan is terrible with very high deductibles and high monthly premiums
