Pros

The casino is very clean and non smoking. It’s a good entry level job into the hospitality industry. The job was very interesting and it’s good experience for a possible career… Audit department doesn’t use the childish points system which is a definite plus.

Cons

Casinos have always seemed to struggle with employee retention and the pay is still not sufficient in today’s economy. I was welcomed back, which is great, but I was warned by numerous employees who left that it was a terrible decision. Management is really bad. The audit manager has 0 leadership and people skills. She would get mad for boxes being unorganized when she should have been focused on her employees sleeping on the job, disappearing for hours, not properly training employees, and insulting her employees in front of other auditors. I felt like I was constantly walking on eggshells. The surveillance manager constantly walks by to watch what you’re doing. The points system is childish. Sick time off and employees being a few minutes late should not be this massive punishment. The morale is very low here too. From day one, I heard nothing but negativity in the break room, around the casino, etc. Casino is open 24/7. No holidays off. No work life balance. Hospitality is all about the customer and not the employees. Not the place for an adult to have a career unless they are in management.
