      Pros

      The people I worked with during my time at Calix were some of the absolutely most talented and dedicated people I've encountered in my entire professional career.

      Cons

      I left prior to a re-org that had me on the fence about the direction the company was heading. There were many knee-jerk high-level decisions made to go "all-in" in one direction, only for it to cause more issues than it resolved. Rather than management learning from the mistakes made, they were "rip the band-aid off quick" and terminate lower-level employees to cover the costs. The company felt like it transitioned from the best in the industry to one that wasn't sure where it was headed, and solely led by marketing to sell products and services that just weren't there yet. The buzzwords being thrown around were lean and agile but honestly, that was just everyone working 80 hour weeks along with Saturdays with no extra compensation. There were times when we were asked to blow money before quarter-end, only to lay people off the following week. That was the straw that broke the camels back with me.

You are correct, Calix has gone through significant change in strategy over the last 5 years as we move from a hardware company focused on customer success to a cloud, software, services and hardware solutions company that is still focused on customer success. This transformation led us to make difficult decisions that impacted the way we execute our work (as you pointed out – lean and agile), the team and what we prioritize, including our investments. It required a lot of effort which has now enabled us to move to a cadence model that allows us to be more predictable about delivery and balance deliverables with our team.       incompetent leadership. Questionable direction. Betting on one customer. Compensation below average.

Calix has invested a great deal to ensure our total reward benefits are extremely competitive and consistent across all positions of our company. In fact, we have not raised our medical benefit costs for employees in the last 5 years! Calix is in the forefront of significant opportunity with our current and future customers and partners. Our Company and leadership have been embarking on this transformation that was discussed in our most recent earnings call with investors. We have made it through our Company's transformation. We are grateful for our Calix team members who have made the transformation happen and we are all focused on the opportunity in front us.

      Legacy organizational structure dragging the company down
