Pros

Great product Innovative Design team Marketing

Cons

I worked at Cambria for many years. At first, the job was great without the micromanaging culture it has become today. The product is outstanding, and the service after the sale is a major differentiator. With each change and additional layers of management added, it’s become a difficult place to achieve any semblance of work life balance. Working nights and weekends to keep up with the reporting requirements of the job is expected, and Market Reps are not allowed to use an out of office reply on email or voicemail during vacation. You are expected to meet and exceed unrealistic sales goals set by management who has no insight or interest in how hard those goals are to achieve/exceed and have lost touch with what should be at the core concern of the business: customer satisfaction. Sales and operations exist as two completely separate silos with different goals with neither one communicating with each other and willing to work together for the common good of the customers. If you want a job where you are told what to do, how to do it, what to say, and how to say it after years of successful results and want a different management type riding with you every week to ensure you are doing it right, this is the job for you. If you like being pulled in 10 different directions at once at the whim of management while still being expected to meet the weekly sales call quota with no consideration of the 10 different ‘projects’ you’ve just been handed, this is the job for you! If you like a top-heavy management structure with no transparency or communication about changes that impact the ability to do your job, you’ve found your perfect job. If you love working under a constant umbrella of fear and uncertainty about your job security, take the job! If you like to be valued for the hard work, creative ideas, and outstanding customer service you deliver to your customers as the core of what you bring to the table, move on. This will not be a culture that will allow you to thrive and grow in your career. Wish it wasn’t so. It’s a great, innovative product, and I have great respect for our Design and Marketing departments. Cambria has and will continue to lose outstanding employees who could have brought the results the company asked for if only allowed to do their job.

Poor Corporate Management & Training

Pros

Nice, professional local co-workers that give great customer service Great quality product Some good perks; free clothing, bottled water, drinks, fun events, etc

Cons

Some very poor 'thin-skinned' dysfunctional management in MN. Poor training for new employees, should be more than 1 week in Le Sueur. Poor communication (limited working relationship, mentoring and lousy support from HQ management in MN to employees (especially newer) at local regional showrooms. Poor on-boarding, not including new market or sales reps in important meetings, calls. Critiquing new employees when they haven't been told what to do, policies, etc Not hiring a full-time 'exclusive' training person who should be immediately spending face to face time in the field/showroom/plant, etc with newer staff. Not giving enough time and adequate interviews to hiring, every candidate should have a chance to interview in-person or via Skype with all superiors they will interactive with to insure that there is no personality clashes. Very poor base pay for commission structured employees, commission potential is pretty low and capped. Slow IT dept. No real HR dept. Provide laptop with lots of missing software making it frustrating to do your job and to submit expenses. Advice to candidate applying for a job at this firm; read all of these reviews. If you just need an interim job, it's tolerable, but this is not a firm to make great money or get ahead. If you a strong personality, you will not get along with management. Not a place to speak whats on your mind or concerns without the risk of losing your job.

Cambria Response
8y
Dear Current Anonymous Employee, Our new hire orientation and training is the most robust program in our industry. Every employee comes to our headquarters in Minnesota to spend an entire week onboarding and training. Many employees come back for several additional weeks of training depending on your department. I’m not sure what your expectations were for employment, but it’s clear that you are not a fit for Cambria. You may recall from your week long training we are a fast moving, performance driven and candid culture, it’s how we built this company. We encourage every employee with concerns, like you have shared in your anonymous review above, to share these with your manager. Have you done that?
