Pros

Cambria creates a beautiful product.

Cons

My direct manager is close minded and not open to empowering the team. Has a "I'll do it" controlling attitude which limits employees in growth. In speaking to colleagues I have been told it is a mentality of most of management in the company. This is NOT a real sales role. Never saw numbers, if you are looking for a career delivering cupcakes and making friends this is for you! Otherwise you won't be happy as there are no goals or guidelines for measurement. Being told not to get on the first bus to head out at a company event and needing to drink and party should not be company priorities but they are. In my 20 years of sales, this company was the only one that was a wasted opportunity for me. Beware of management, they don't have a company HR department to speak to so there is no employee support, you will hear "chain of command" being thrown at you constantly.

Cambria Response
8y
Cambria recently let go of a few market representatives for performance reasons including this person who no longer works for us as an MR. It’s unfortunate that disgruntled employees turn to anonymous social platforms to vent their frustration. Cambria has hundreds of employees in our sales department, many of whom have been with the company since we started 15 years ago. Cambria is a fast paced growth company with high expectations and will not be a fit for everyone, but for the right people it’s a rewarding career.

Pros

Big screen TV in break room....but you can't change the channel or you get in trouble. Nice grass...but do not walk on or you get in trouble. Uniforms provided...unless you quit during first year then you pay $200.

Cons

Very disrespectful leadership who ride around on scooters and bikes, hide in their offices and watch you on their security cameras, and say the "f" word to your face when you make a minor mistake. Their business model is designed around finding young, inexperienced workers who are desperate for work and are willing to not question the legal and moral decisions made by leadership. For example, if you get hurt, you are not permitted to go home for fear of breaking their 1000+ days without lost time record. I saw a crushed finger that was fixed at the hospital and the employee told he could not go home because company policy would not permit it (one example of many).

Pros

Cambria pays a competitive salary, offers 401K contributions, healthcare (no dental) and produces a good product.

Cons

A culture of fear, authoritarianism and intimidation emanates from the top on down at Cambria. Creativity is sacrificed for conformity and strict adherence to rigid processes and procedures is demanded of people who do not thrive when forced to color within the lines. There is far too much time wasted on setting personal goals and endless performance reviews with no chance for advancement or monetary incentives. Loyalty, performance and hard work are rarely appreciated nor rewarded. Indeed, you are told explicitly that if you want a promotion, leave. Creative management is passive aggressive, invariably acquiesces to arbitrary marketing changes (even when creative briefs are followed to the letter) and will not defend your work. The result is watered down “vanilla” creative by committee that has no originality or impact. Even after your work is approved by directors and vice presidents of creative and marketing, you are still held accountable for any failure to meet (usually unspecified) goals. The department is understaffed, deadlines are unrealistic and workloads are overwhelming. In addition, employees are expected to put in their own time working at company events. You will not have the chance to use all your hard-earned vacation time. If you’re looking for a place to do strong creative work, think twice about Cambria.
