There are two "packs" (portion of selling price for which commissioned sales reps do get paid commission on). One is the hard pack, which is disclosed to the sales associate, the other is a "soft" pack which not disclosed and is estimated to be much larger than the hard pack. So when sale is "a loser" or even a "breakeven" deal, the poor sales rep receives a "mini" which is a minimal pay for the hard work, while the company gets a huge bonanza from the non-commissioned packs.
Pay plans alter on a regular basis, and they never go up. Only down.
Pressure from upper level management which is passed down through the store level management is harsh and unrealistic. Regional managers come in and try unsuccessfully to close deals of shoppers who genuinely are just looking and have no intention of buying for a year, then turn around and demand that the less experienced sales personnel close those same type of deals.
Followup schedule in the CRM is a one size fits all plan and pressures sales rep to call and email the prospect every day including the day of the visit, pestering them when they've already told the rep that the floorplan or other feature they wanted was not in stock, or that they absolutely will not trade their unit in at a $20,000 loss, and other scenarios that do not call for daily barrage of phone calls and emails.
Have witnessed reps not being paid their due commission on more than one occasion.
Spring and Summer work hours are long and not so family friendly.
CEO makes derogatory remark on national TV which he claims was misinterpreted (that may be the case but still the bone-headed remark stuck with the public causing many to be negative against the store and the company).
Overall vibe of the company is that human resource is treated more like resource than human. Very poor work environment with low morale throughout the store.
