Pros

It is a corporation of many smaller offices with one larger main office. Administration is centralized. The projects may be large scale with interesting technical problems and design opportunities that are not available to smaller firms. Overall in-house teams can, but not always, have very qualified members with innovative ideas. There is opportunity to work on national and international projects.

Cons

The corporate structure is overbearing at the office level and distant from the employee level. Change can be sudden and unexplained. Employees should assume 10% automatic unpaid overtime. There are some actions taken within the corporation that I do not want associated with my professional life.

Thanks so much for your comments. All feedback helps us consistently become better. As a company, we’re committed to addressing all employee concerns and creating a culture where our people feel empowered to be and do their best. In regards to our corporate structure, we’re excited to announce that Brad Lukanic has been named our new CEO. http://www.cannondesign.com/news-insights/news-item/lukanic-named-cannondesigns-ceo/ Brad brings a new level of passion, energy and enthusiasm to the helm of our firm, and his new leadership approach has been designed to support the differences of our offices and people rather than creating “sameness." Similarly, the core management team in place will provide support and guidance they need to thrive today and grow. We’re also working hard to maintain a healthy work/life balance for all employees. We’re in the midst of piloting a summer hours program where our offices close at 1 p.m. on Fridays. Our hope is that this extra time off allows our employees to unwind and connect with the people and places they love. So far it’s been a great success. Finally, in regards to concerns employees have with the actions of others, organizational transparency can be challenging however under Brad’s leadership we can expect improved communication and collaboration. Additionally, we have a robust Compliance Program in place to maintain and champion a culture where ethics, integrity, and compliance are paramount considerations in all company decisions. All reports are handled anonymously and confidentially. Read more here - http://www.cannondesign.com/about/compliance. Thanks again for your comments and for contributing your talents and skills to our firm. We wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Pros

some people are willing to help as much as possible where there are quite a few who don't want to help

Cons

there are employees there that have been there for years who believe its ok to cuss you out talk down to you talk to you like your a 5 year old child and all management has to say is that just the way they are. They waste millions on rebranding and 30 days after the launch they lay off 100 people. There is also allot of favoritism

Pros

You get to work on cool/big projects. They pay for all licensing exams which can be quite costly and give you time off to take the tests.

Cons

Way too top heavy. Very few staff members are actually producing work to cover the rest of the company for doing internal company PR-ish "blogging". There is a desire to produce better and more efficient buildings but not change the way they design which is backwards. No one is held accountable for projects losing money and many teams are kept in the dark about whether or not their project has been profitable to know if they need to change their process to save money.
