Good People - Messy Management

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Lots of different interest groups and avenues to learn and develop in within the firm. Good variety of work going on in the office and across the country. Opportunity is there for younger staff to take ownership over their work & interests (if you want to work lots of OT). Good support for those pursuing licensure.

Cons

Poor project management and leadership leads to lots of unpaid overtime. Bad communication between project "leaders" leads to frustration for everyone, wasted time and poor financial performance for the project/firm (and more unpaid OT for junior staff). Programs in place to compensate employees for lots of overtime but they aren't used. Compensation generally average to below average for the field. No regular raises, minimal end of year bonuses. Experience of working here can be highly project dependent.

Great projects, horrible compensation

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Lots of opportunity for growth and experience. They ask/listen to what you are interested in and cater to it when staffing projects. Clients are great, I love the work I'm doing.

Cons

No opportunity for growth in terms of promotions or raises. No compensation for above-average performance, yet the expectations remain high. Salaries are significantly lower than the local average. Refusal to address direct concerns about pay. Have also experienced sexual harassment from a project manager.

We appreciate your review, and we want you to know that we take your feedback seriously. It's disheartening to hear that your experience doesn't align with the positive work environment we strive to create at our company. Regarding compensation, we have a robust and competitive compensation process in place using multiple external data sources. Our salaries are continually evaluated, taking into account industry standards and comparisons with peer firms, including those within the AIA Large Firm Roundtable. However, we understand that individual concerns may not always be fully addressed through this process. That's why we strongly encourage open conversations between teammates and their managers about compensation. This provides an opportunity for managers to provide honest insights into what's possible within the current role and explore potential avenues for future advancement with higher compensation levels. Thanks again for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry that your time at CannonDesign wasn't as positive as we would have hoped.
