Looks great from the outside...but terrible inside.

Pros

Junior people are high energy and enthusiastic. Lots of free food, drinks (beer in the fridges) and social events.

Cons

No ethical leaders to speak of. These people pay lip service to their "core" values, but reward incompetence and yes-people. Diversity is almost zero at top levels. Total diversity across all levels is about 16%. The company is Richmond-centric and micromanages other offices. If you're part of the good old boy network down in Richmond, you may be ok, but if you want to do good work in other geographies, there are much better places to be. The company quietly does illegal things in performance evaluations, pay and hiring. They are great at managing their image to the outside world, but after you're inside for some time you see the true picture quickly. Stay away!

Pros

CapTech is the premier boutique management consulting practices on the east coast. Great people, great business model. Continuous educational opportunities

Cons

Based on bill rate, pay could be ~10% to 15% better. Life as a consultant - tied to one client - too much travel

Great place to start a career

Pros

The people are great. The work/life balance may get overused as a pro...but it is so true. These people really enforce the idea that if you have a happy life outside of work, you will be successful and produce quality work. Office culture is high-energy and fun. You can carve your own career at CapTech. You won't get pigeonholed into one area of consulting when you start your career if you're not sure what you want to do.

Cons

Training - the classes in place help explain how CapTech works and how CapTech approaches problems within a given technology, industry, or service area, but they lack in hands-on material.
