Pros

Would look great on your resume if you can tolerate the environment.

Cons

In my short amount of time at CCH I was able to observe how much dysfunction lives within the corporate setting. The manager for the department I worked in is the exact definition of what a micromanager is in every way and then some. I was criticized on things that were more personal than performance related to the job. I wasn’t the only one, he treated everyone just as poorly, and his facial expressions were always very telling of how he felt when his employees shared their ideas or had any questions to ask. It's an environment where everyone walks on eggshells. I could hear him reprimanding others on the team and using terms such as “you are making me shake.” After about 4 weeks on the job and spending my first couple of weeks observing and meeting managers, I was told I wasn’t catching on fast enough to own the workload I was hired for. All the while I wasn't even given all of my work load to own or work on. I felt like I was never allowed to ask questions, disagree, or have the confidence to make any suggestions to help improve any recruiting functions. It felt like a very stifled department, and it did not at all feel like a team driven atmosphere. No one seemed like they wanted to be there and only one person out of the whole team was allowed to work a hybrid schedule. When another department manager lost their mother and was out on bereavement, my manager made a comment saying “I don’t care” after asking why she wasn’t available to meet with me. Empathy is important, and it’s not something that can be taught and trained to someone. The HRBP I had to work with lacks professionalism as well, every manager is basically on her “s” list. The unprofessionalism in not just how she speaks about her colleagues but also the staff is disheartening. When I made a referral to someone I know for a position within CCH, she proceeded to ask me if she was pretty and made comments about her weight and being overweight that made me feel uncomfortable. She also went on to say that she never would have thought that the director would pick someone “like that” to work for him. It then brought me to observe the lack of diversity that CCH has in their corporate setting. I started to feel even more out of place in what I thought was an inviting and diverse workplace.
