Pros

Some of the people were great, and it was a pleasure working with them. Work/life balance was alright for the most part.

Cons

It is a small company, and it feels less professional and more like high school. Department leaders would butt heads, large scale projects would be put on teams suddenly, and there was no accountability. Instead, it would turn into a blame war, with people desperate not to be the scapegoat. On the surface, it looks like a great company to work for. But there are issues that emerge as you dig deeper. The company does not value diversity and is chasing the money to sell student data above putting student user experience first. The tech team is all male. There is a disconnect between the sales team and the rest of the company, due to poor upper management. It does not feel like a safe place to make mistakes, either. The turnover is high, but HR paints it as something that is routine. The entire product team except one person quit this year alone, and several people left the company from other departments. Every day, people had good things to say about each other, but complaints about what was going on in the management level of the company. Overall, I'd steer clear of this company unless you are looking for something temporary.

Pros

Cappex is a great company! The culture is amazing and the people who work at Cappex are so much fun! As a sales professional, they really treated the sales team well and I earned a lot of (hard earned) money through their fair and generous compensation plan. I always felt like I was supported by leadership and everyone on the sales team was positive and team oriented.

Cons

Sales training is there, but needs to continue to be developed. Higher Ed is a hard industry to sell in to. If you don’t have a passion or at least an interest in Higher Ed, it may not be a fit for you.

Pros

- Phenomenal team of people - from front-line employees through management through senior leadership, everyone is in it for the company and in it for each other. - They’re investing in the company for its future - from leadership to technology to process, they’re taking big steps to drive the company forward - Good benefits (from the big stuff like medical through small things like snacks and a gym membership) - Casual work environment - The up sides of working for a small company - you know everyone, great culture, there aren’t a ton of people so every single person makes a difference, you learn a ton if you take initiative because sometimes there’s no one to do something except you, so you figure it out and learn a lot as you go I am so grateful for my time at Cappex. Having left a previous job at a stressful company/bad environment, Cappex was literally a breath of fresh air. It wasn’t perfect (no job is), but I was happy every single day there. The team is the biggest difference-maker - loved everyone I worked with. Management and HR really try to make the culture great, in big and small ways. They know there are areas they need to make better to drive the business forward, and they’re making plans to do so.

Cons

- The down sides of working for a small company - limited resources (budget, time), limited career runway depending on department (ex: there is a defined career progression in sales, but there isn’t into management because it’s a pretty flat org structure today). The limited runway is the only reason I left - there wasn’t a defined timeline for a next step. Otherwise, I would have stayed for way longer. Hopefully this changes as the company grows and headcount is added - it already grew in the two years I was there.
