- it’s very clear who has a good vs bad experience at Carbon. If you’re a white male, you’ll probably rate this place 5 stars. But minorities have a much different experience.
- lack of training and awareness of managers on how to be good people managers and 90% management is white/male
- I think there are a few key management who really do care about diversity, inclusion and peoples experience working at Carbon, but for the most part, most managers don’t seem to. They don’t care to understand the employees perspective, challenges, etc
- Certain staff are considered “necessary” to the tech/business which means that they pretty much get a free pass to say and do whatever they want, at the cost of other employees, without any sort of consequences, which can be very harmful
- the tech is not great in terms of sustainability and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of active effort to improve this front- this applies to most additive manufacturing
- Prospective hires who are women, POC or queer should definitely interview their potential manager and team well to get a good sense of what team dynamics and management is like- this can vary pretty drastically from team to team but is crucial to your experience working there
