Pros

At Cardinal, we have a set of core values. I think these are very important for employees that want to actually become better employees. The Core Values hold me accountable and become more of a team player. Cardinal Group has definitely helped me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. I feel like I will be successful in my new role because I have a whole team behind me cheering me on. They provide lots of learning opportunities and they really want their employees to succeed. Since day 1 I have felt as though I was a part of a great team.

Cons

I do not have any cons.

I love what you have to say about how the core values help us to remain accountable to others. The most impactful part of that ethos in my mind is that at the end of the day, people at Cardinal work for each other and not some corporate bogey man. Thanks for helping people understand why that's important!

Thoughts on my 2nd Year Anniversary

Pros

Cardinal makes actionable and meaningful changes every day in order to meet the company goal of being the best place to work for anyone in any industry. In 18 years in this industry, I've never seen a company that prioritizes the experience of the on-site teams as much as Cardinal does and I think that's really smart to do given they are the ones that have most of the public-facing relationships. To that end, I'm excited to see our new Centralized Services Department grow and free up administrative time for our teams on site. There's SO much potential there waiting to unfold! For me, personally, my position has been moved around a bit during company restructuring but both my new and old teams have been incredibly supportive. I was able to create a new job title for myself and the salary I suggested for the role was accepted by my manager. That makes me feel truly valued and that the work I do matters.

Cons

No COVID mitigations for HQ events. This is particularly a problem for the annual leadership summit which collects upwards of 400 people in a hotel conference room. A surprising number of people remain unvaccinated and virtually no one masks. This combination of factors effectively excludes those of us who are medically vulnerable. Cardinal has a culture of inclusivity, but they are missing the mark on this one. CDC recommendations have not changed for the high risk and some of us are trying to find appropriate middle ground on our own in the workplace. It does not make me feel welcome when senior leadership suggests that I wear a mask and sit at the back of the room by myself if I have a problem with it.

Pros

When joining the Cardinal team, it's clear from day one that you are part of something big. The company has ambitious plans and these are communicated widely to ensure all team members know the value they bring to building the future Cardinal. When you start at Cardinal, it's clear that you are joining a team that values your talents and the experience you bring to the role. The benefits program is the best in the property management industry and there continue to be opportunities for career growth, including new verticals being developed to accommodate the company's growth.

Cons

Any downsides of working for Cardinal pale in comparison to comparable considerations at other companies in the property management industry.

" They are talked about openly so that team members know additional attention is needed for the benefit of our teams and the company as a whole." is the single most meaningful comment I've heard on this platform. You've captured in a short sentence the entirety of the "why" behind why we work. Thank you for helping others to see past the fluff and zero in to why Cardinal is what it is today.
